# 15:blogging Web 2.0, Library 2.0

Had a read through those commentaries, and yes, everyone was very enthusiastic, very excited, but I must admit to a few questions.

Firstly, they appear to have very little in common with the library I work in. Perhaps that's because we're only at the beginning oif this new wave of social networking.

Secondly, will these technologies be customer-driven or management driven, or both? And how will they be implemented in the library? What sort of leadership will be necessary? As staff members, we would need a course which is far more comprehensive and exhaustive than this one, which only gives us the basics.

There are other issues, but there is a fundamental one - we don't have the time! Libraries generally are vastly understaffed - we have problems keeping up with our duties as it is, without additional duties of becoming completely au fait with the new social networking tools.

Yes, I know this is negative, and I'd love to be more enthusiastic, because it's fun - I'm just not sure how realistic it is in our library. But I love those Image Generators!

Your comments are very valid. We need to assess all the concerns you mentioned before implementing anything new. Ownership of these technologies is a very good point. Who takes control??
